Hi, I’m David, the minister and author of this Biblical Faith & Reasoning ministry website. I would like you to pray for the families of North Carolina and surrounding states severely damaged by Helene’s rains and wind. The devastation of the National Disaster Helene in North Carolina was almost unimaginable. Flood waters that haven’t been seen in this area since the flood of Noah some 4,300 years ago have devastated this region.
We have innumerable little gentle brooks and gullies throughout this region; as water flows down, it gathers in these areas. This gathering of water caused houses, barns, cars, etc., to be washed away in locations close to these brooks and gullies. The rivers then try to absorb this unbelievable volume of water and overflow their banks, carrying more businesses, houses, barns, cars, etc., down the rivers. Entire towns were washed away. Mud and rock slides also destroyed property or completely washed away everything in their path.
I have been through many hurricanes when I lived in Florida, the coast of Virginia, and North Carolina but I never imagined this much devastation in these beautiful mountains. These mountains make you feel safe and secure. They wrap you in peace and harmony with natural beauty and good, wonderful people who overwhelmingly support each other in times of crisis. Helene has temporarily shattered that idyllic description.
We will recover, but it will take time, money, and the government staying out of our way, so we can get things done. People helping people and families coming together to rebuild without government bureaucracy is what’s needed. The government is welcome to provide policing to discourage luting and money for families who lost, in some cases, everything, but they need to resist taking over. We don’t need them to come in and take charge with nonsensical bureaucracy. We need supplies, protection, and money from our government.
The most devastating thing about this storm was the lack of warning, that caused considerable loss of lives. They are recovering bodies, as I write this, and many will never be found because they are buried in several feet of mud and rocks. Pray earnestly for the families of the victims of this tragedy. Their losses are irreplaceable. Plead to God to help them cope with the loss and seek God, friends, and family for support and help. I will gladly donate my time to help those grieving or needing my services in my local area.
My precious wife, my family, and I were blessed to make it through this storm with little or no damage. So we are safe and healthy. Many people who don’t live in areas with the potential to flood fared well. But again, this region is full of rivers, brooks, and gullies, so millions of people and businesses were affected by this storm in varying degrees of devastation and damage. We are fine, but many are not, and some have lost everything. Be in earnest prayer for them and help them as you can or feel led. They will appreciate it and God will bless you for any assistance you can provide.
I pray that God blesses all those who survived this storm. Lord, please give them comfort and strength and provide them with everything they need to recover from this tragedy. In Jesus’ precious, holy name, Amen!
