Woe To Them That Call Evil Good, and Good Evil

We have a pandemic of relativism. People actually believe that there is nothing good or evil about anything. They think that what is good or evil is determined by each individual. They believe that there is no absolute truth, no absolute good, and no absolute evil, but they’re wrong. These individuals would say to me, “How dare you cast judgment upon me, and how do you know what you’re saying is true. How can you proclaim the truth about good and evil because isn’t good and evil determined by each person and their own thoughts?” No, each person cannot proclaim their own version of good and evil. And, I’m not judging; I’m revealing the truth according to God through His Holy Bible. We do not determine the parameters of good and evil; God does. The Bible proclaims God’s parameters.

Isaiah 5:20


“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”


This verse is proclaiming judgment. All those that call evil things good and good things evil and exchange bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter are doomed. The word “Woe” quite literally means Doom. So, their fate or destiny is determined. If you read the entire counsel of God, you choose that that fate or destiny is eternal existence in the Lake of Fire, in pain, anguish, and eternal separation from loved ones and God.


But what specific things that are evil are people calling good and vice versa? I’ll provide a short list below, but there are many more.


Woe To Them That Call Evil Good, and Good Evil – Evil Things Being Called Good


Abortion – No matter how you slice it, abortion will never be good and is always evil. Specifically, because the baby has not committed any infraction that would warrant the death penalty, it’s just that simple.


Homosexuality – People are not born gay. It is a learned behavior and subject to the individual’s will without regard for God’s creation. Genesis 1:27 states that God created them male and female. The Bible goes on to describe the role of each of the two genders.


Transgenderism – God is very clear in scripture when he proclaims that men should dress as men and women should dress like women. Deuteronomy 22:5 “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.”


Socialism – Socialism creates a lazy, hopeless workforce that could care less about how well or efficiently they do their jobs. They know they will get a specific wage for a day’s work without regard for their performance. So, they don’t care about doing their best because there is no tangible reward for excellence.


Moral Relativism – This abomination states that morality is dependent on each individual’s notion of right and wrong. This moral relativism also means if you are a serial murderer and feel it is not wrong to murder someone, people should accept you as you are and not judge you for your actions. Exodus 20:13 says that you shall not murder anyone. The same thing goes for other sins. Morality is black and white, not various shades of gray.

Christianity – People are judging the church as being too restrictive in their views. They fail to recognize that our views are God’s views because He imparted His views on us through scripture. Therefore, God and Christianity are good.


Moral Absolutism – As a Christian, I’m delighted to agree with God and His morality. God never changes, and His morality never changes. So, His morality is the only good and true morality. Yet, people call moral absolutism too restrictive, judgmental, and oppressive. They genuinely want to be their own God and determine their own morality using their own sinful minds. Ecclesiastes 12:13


The Free Market System – The free-market system rewards excellence. If you outperform another worker, you deserve better pay and promotion. If you “sit on your dead hind-end” and fail to do your work, you deserve to be fired. If you serve the Lord Jesus Christ in everything you do, you will always do your best. Although, your best may still not be as good as the performance of others. Therefore, you do not deserve equal pay unless your performance is also comparable. 2 Thessalonians 3:10


Masculinity – It is good to be masculine if you are a genetic male. But many people today are calling masculinity evil. A truly masculine man is a defender, protector, and provider. He is slow to anger and loving. He puts his family’s needs ahead of his own. These are the Biblical attributes of a masculine man. God’s design is good, so let’s embrace God’s design. Ephesians 5:25 A masculine man will love his wife with sacrificial love, being willing to lay down his life for her, just like Christ did to save each of us.

Doom, also known as a horrible fate or destiny, will await all those that call evil things good and good things evil. Doom awaits all those that share something bitter with you but call it sweet. It’s deceptive, wrong, and morally reprehensible. The Holy Bible reveals that there is no other truth than Biblical truth. All other perceived “truth” is a lie manufactured by sinful minds and inherently evil.


Friends, it all comes down to reading, studying, and understanding the Bible. If you know what the Bible says, then you know the difference between good and evil. You know how to be good. We all sin, but the fewer sins, the better. Walk that straight and narrow path that Jesus laid out for you, and you will know the truth and live the truth. You will see the difference between good and evil, and you’ll be morally good. I hope this encourages you to step out in faith and be Biblically moral.
